i told someone recently that i wouldn't be sad when livejournal died. while i might miss a certain contact with select people that i woudln't be able to repair... i was ready for that chapter of my life to be closed. honestly, it's been closed for a long time. it's not like i'm a frequent writer, though i'm still a compulsive reader. i decided to go back and read some of my old entries. now i just feel old and know that i am not that person anymore.

nada surf is not playing with gogol bordello. nada surf is playing the same night as gogol bordello at a different promowest venue and thus it confused me. please come see gogol bordello instead of nada surf. i know your love for the song popular may seem like fond nostalgia... but gogol bordello will rock your ass off.
also, the raconteurs totally pwnd tonight. i love any time bands can evoke the transcendent moment. 15 minute versions of blue veins kick ass.

1) it's my birthday tomorrow and so there's some talk about getting together and drinking. i'm kinda crashing saci's thing. if you're not friends with her then you obviously don't know wtf that thing is. long story short, after 9 or so we're going to be heading to some bar called chubby's (1846 hard road, dublin, oh). i guess it's near smokey row. i don't know the details. i'm also looking for any volunteer to DD my ass around. otherwise... i'll probably just go to the pre-9pm thing and then go home and be depressed.
2) going to some shows this week. if anyone wants to come with, that's cool. raconteurs are playing monday at the LC and gogol bordello is at the newport on tues. both of those shows are undoubtably going to kick ass.
3) i'm sorry if you've tried to contact me in the last 3-4 weeks but i've been bad at getting back to people on things. needless to say, work has been pretty busy and i've had a lot of other things going on.
z) this summer seems hot and oppressive already. my wiifit kicked my ass last night. i still haven't seen a single hot summer movie. lost was awesome. i need to go watch the venture brothers. the end.

trying to get out of my life slump... here is a numbered list of developments, because i like lists.
1. drinking a little again... right now... this very moment. for some odd reason, this allowed me to clean my kitchen... a little... a few moments ago.
2. packing my lunch for work. i really need to do some analysis to see how much money this is going to save me. i also need to better understand how likely i am to spend money just because i have it.
3. i've decided i want to buy a house in columbus. i have nearly no liquid assets. that's kinda what #2 is about.
4. i bought a new camera. that means i should probably re-up my flickr shit. i also need to leave my house more to find things to take pictures of.
5. <Combat Looters>, <Keyboard Turners> or <I Stand in Fire>. i can't decide.
6. nostalgia. i used to despise it. i'm begining to feel it more frequently. also.
7. i know someone who is looking for an illustrator for some children's books (that don't involve jesus). anyone game?
8. this entry has been modified 4 times and gained an additional number each time.

that was a crazy fun weekend.
yesterday, tyler and i had a marathon run at rockband. i think we played from 2p to 1a, with a break for food. ty was a quick learner on all instruments and we pushed our band pretty far. i'm contemplating picking up an extra guitar for situations in which i can actually get more than 1 person to come over and play with me.
today i shoveled snow like whoa. i'd been doing pretty good keeping ahead of it most of the weekend. i thought it'd be nice to have it shoveled for the pizza delivery guy on friday and the mailman on saturday. today i went kinda shoveling crazy, though. i cleared off the sidewalk all the way to half-way down my building. i also cleared paths to people's doors and to the street. the great part was that the sun would do a lot of the work if i could start getting the sidewalk exposed. i kinda feel like if everyone had gone out and done a little work with their shovels today, all of the sidestreets would be clear.
i eventually got over to my car, which i'd had to park forever away on friday. i tried to clear the snow around it, but eventually just decided to use my AWD to pull out of the spot. i dropped it down into the lowest gear and it was able drive over the 2 ft drifts no problemo. now i'm all set for going back to the grind tomorrow... except that i have no clean laundry.

it looks like i underestimated the staying power of this rank 1 blizzard. i woke up this morning and found all of my previous shoveling under 5 more inches of snow. i'm glad i ordered enough pizza last night to get me through the weekend. this snow is easy enough to shovel, i might go dig my car out later. it's really nice out :)

most of what i want to say has already said here by myself and a few others. i've now officially switched in my support of voting my principles to voting for the most electable lesser of two evils. i think 2004 cemented that. i'm sad because even though i've made this sacrifice for the greater good, the greater good does not come about. perhaps the problem in this democracy is the people. with a retarded electorate, the system will never change. (they're not just retarded because they don't agree with me. that doesn't help their case, though.)
