it's getting muggy in here.

i was freezing earlier. i've turned up the thermostat to see what happens. right now, it feels somewhere between sauna and rainforest. i'm not sure if i'll sleep downstairs or not.

well, there's good news. i survived the hurricane. the windows rattled a little, but i think i'm alright. oh, my sister managed to survive, too. she and jim got out of town near the middle of last week and went to florida. they took their cat and a her "wedding pearls" with them. other than what was in their bags, that's probably the whole of their possesions now (other than the crap my sister has in storage at my mom's). i guess my sister saw her street sign poking up above the water on the news, so the chance that her place is flooded is pretty high. they'll be coming to stay in ohio for a while until they start letting people back into new orleans. i really can't think why they'd go back to that place. all of their stuff is probably ruined. what isn't ruined will probably be stolen before they get back. by the time they get back, i'm sure mold will make their place toxic and un-enterable. totally not a good situation. at least fire leaves little hope behind. water leaves bloated corpses of your life.

not much else is going on. i keep getting calls from recruiters about jobs in ohio. guess what? i already have a fucking job in ohio! i don't want another one. i'm wondering if i'm going to have to save up some cash and do something crazy. quit my job, get the fuck outta town, get a new address in some shitty little cheap apartment and work the contracts in a new town until i get a good foot. i could live a long time on a couple grand if i fixed up my rent/bills expense.

i'm up too late. i've been observing the fun in columbus. drama makes the internet intersting. i'm trying to keep an uninvolved perspective... i had thought about not saying anything, but i guess saying it here doesn't really count. i'm now a moderator for columbus. the irony of being moderator of both it and columbass does not escape me. anyway, i've decided that i'm not going to go announcing it. i'm going to still let bart be the figurehead.

for reference sake, being uninvolved in the middle of a drama doesn't mean i can't be a dick. i'll always be a dick :)
